POWER FLUSHING

WHAT IS "POWER FLUSHING"

WHY DO I NEED IT?

Power Flushing is an operation whereby a powerful  pump unit is connected into your system.

This can be done either at the boiler, pump or

a radiator.

Cando uses a KAMCO machine.

Chemicals used for cleaning the system of debris are then forced into the system from the machine and the boiler is turned on to heat the system up. The type of chemicals depend on the boiler type we use FX"  for  cast iron or steel systems and Hyperflush for any system with aluminium in it.

This is very important as it greatly improves the effectiveness of the flush and explains why the system must be working for the flush to succeed.

Firstly the whole system is flushed then all radiators but one are turned off and that radiator gets the full force of the machine. The direction of the water is repeatedly reversed and then this operation proceeds one radiator at a time.

When all the radiators are hot and have been flushed with the cleaner each radiator is flushed out via the machine to the drain with fresh water, the complete system is then Neutralised and finally the system is completely drained before being refilled with a corrosion inhibitor being added to stopped further corrosion build up.

Why do you need it.......

The makers of all new boilers insist that the debris is removed from the system before the new boiler is installed otherwise your very expensive new boiler would become "OLD" in a matter of weeks.

Other reason included "kettleing", banging and thumping and wheezing from the boiler as it heats up or radiators that are always cold at the bottom or in the middle.

To check take a small magnet and put it on some copper pipe, if it sticks to the pipe it has A LOT of debris in the system and badly needs a flush.

YOU  MAY WELL OF HEARD THE TERM "YOUR SYSTEM NEEDS A FLUSH" OR "YOU NEED TO GET THIS POWER FLUSHED"

AND WONDERED WHAT IT MEANS. IN THE BOX BELOW I HAVE TRIED TO EXPLAIN THIS IN SIMPLE TERMS.....BUT

IT CAN ONLY BE DONE WITH THE PROPER EQUIPMENT AND CHEMICALS,

NORMALLY IT TAKES ALL OF ONE DAY AT LEAST TO DO THE JOB PROPERLY  (DEPENDING ON THE SIZE OF THE SYSTEM)

  THERE ARE NO SHORT CUTS.

CANDO USES WHAT WE CONSIDER TO BE THE BEST(AS DO MANY OTHERS) AND USE A KAMCO  CF30 CLEARFLOW CLASSIC

POWER FLUSHING MACHINE WITH KAMCO CLEANERS AND NEUTRALISER.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST AND WILL IT MAKE MUCH MESS?

The cost will depend on the size of your system.

Although the chemicals are relativly expensive to do the job  properly this work is very labour intensive.

A small flat with only four or five radiators on one floor would  start from   £350 pounds.

An average two or three bedroom house would take all day and cost from £450.

Houses over ten radiators or more than two floors start from     £550.

Thermostatic valves often have to be temporarilly replaced as they restrict the flow to much, and so reduce the effectivness of the flush.

This would again increase the cost.

   MESS??

Normally the answer is no not to much, one radiator has to be removed, we need access to the loft for an open system and  we need access to both ends of all radiators.

We also need to connect the machine to electricity, mains water  and a drain.

We use dustsheets to protect your floor coverings.
